Hapag Lloyd, China – Import Restriction on Waste and Scraps – Update

As per our CustomerInfo from September 26, 2017, the Ministry of Environmental Protection of PR China (MEP) recently published an index of import ban on waste products which includes certain grades (classes) of plastic scraps and recyclable waste paper.

This will take effect on all vessels arriving China from December 31, 2017.

Accordingly, Hapag-Lloyd will adhere to the new index by the MEP and will not accept commodities listed on the import ban index from all origins to China effective on all vessels with ETA at China ports from December 31, 2017.

Please note that plastic scrap and waste paper grades (classes) that are not listed as banned in the index will continue to be accepted.
